FMCSA employers are required to register with FMCSA’s Clearinghouse and run either a full query (pre-employment) or a limited query (annually). Driver’s need to register in order to provide electronic consent in order for the prospective or current employer to run a query. See 49 CFR 382.709 for more information. To login into the Clearinghouse click here. If you have any questions regarding the FMCSA Clearinghouse please click here to visit their Learning Center for free information.
FAQ: What’s a query? A query is an electronic check in the Clearinghouse, conducted by an employer or their designated C/TPA, to determine if current or prospective employees are prohibited from performing safety-sensitive functions, such as operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), due to unresolved drug and alcohol program violations.
Fun Fact! (Well.. not really) Beginning November 18, 2024, as part of new Federal regulations, drivers with a “prohibited” status in FMCSA’s Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse will be denied or lose their State-issued commercial driving privileges.
